STATUS ON SPORTS COMPLEX

For the past year or so I’ve been working with the Bargara State School as it tries to get some funding for a multi-sports complex on the schools current sports oval.

On of the issues that gets raised with me at my weekly Consulation Desk is the lack of sporting facilities for our local youth.

The oval at Nielson’s Park cater for the Bargara Little Athletics and the Bargara Soccer Club however the latter team members are unable to train in the cooler evenings due to lighting restrictions for the nearby Mon Repos Turtle Centre.

As our populations grows, so too does the need for additional services and facilities.

The school is currently awaiting the outcome of a grant application to Queensland Education’s Go For Gold grants which provides a total of $100M over a four year period. Congratulations to Principal Bec Rayner and her team for putting the application together.

Hopefully this great project will get the tick to enable detailed planning and design work to be completed ahead of construction works.

Keep your fingers crossed and I’ll provide updates on any developments.
